24 hour NO POWER!!!!

The power went out, again. The temporary fix (replacing the main breaker) that was supposed to last for a while lasted 3 days. And of course it had to happen on the hottest day of the year so far. Jeremy and his electrician friend Mike spent all day today fixing the problem. Hooray right?! Wrong!!!! We are still waiting for PG&E to come back and turn the power back on. Hopefully we will have air conditioning soon.

House update 07/06/08

Jeremy, his Mom Tami, and I went to the house today to see the progress. There wasn't much progress since we were there on Wednesday, but there were a few changes.

The stone has been started on the garage.

I think i left out a picture of the fireplace last time, so here it is. Nothing fancy. I really wanted a pretty white poured concrete mantle and surround, but Jeremy didn't like it. So we picked out an upgraded tile.

They grouted everything! Here is the bathroom in the guest suite. They still have to tile the counter and the shower.

This is my vanity!

Here is a close up of the liner tile that we picked out!

Happy 4th of July?

Mine wasn't so happy for a few reasons. I had to work, but I got holiday pay, so it wasn't that bad. I expected to come home to a b-b-q, but what did I come home to? Nothing! No food, no husband and no power! So maybe I am exaggerating. I knew there wouldn't be any food since I called Jeremy before I left work and I picked up Taco Bell on the way home. Woo hoo, Mexican food on Independence day. Anyways, coming home to no power was the irritating thing. There has been a problem with the power over the last week, but we didn't think it was that big of a deal. Well Friday came and the power went out at least 10 times. So my MIL called PG&E, and the problem turned out to be the main breaker. We found this out at 7:55 pm, and every hardware store in the state closed at 8:00pm because it was a holiday. Crappy for us. When there is no power at the house there also no water, since the pump for the well runs off electricity. No water=no good. Luckily, we were able to tie into the water next door. Otherwise it would have meant no shower, no toilet flushing, nothing! My FIL happened to have bought a generator last spring, so we did have enough power to keep the fridge going and use minimal lights. But that was about it. It was a night of reading by candle light. Good thing I had just bought a new book, Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer. Yes, I am addicted, thanks to a few of the blogs I have been peeking in on. I finished Twilight in 2 and 1/2 days, mind you I worked two of the days, and I had to buy New Moon and Eclipse on my way to work yesterday! Now I am almost finished with New Moon. I have to say, they are excellent. Too bad the next book doesn't come out until August...

House Update July 2nd

Here are a few pictures that Jeremy took of the house today. I uploaded them in order, but now they aren't in order and I don't know how to fix it. Oh well!

Master bath. Cabinets added and tile laid. No grout yet.

Jeremy's vanity

The shower

The house with a garage door! It hasn't been painted yet, and the stones for the front of the house are sitting in the yard in the box with the red spray paint on it.

The kitchen with cabinets! Jeremy approved the granite pieces today, so they should be in sometime soon.

The space for the oven and the microwave.

The fridge space

The dining area. I took video of the whole house. The front bath has been tiled, the racks for the master closet are in. I would upload the video, but it takes too long on slow internet. Maybe this weekend I will have the patience to do it.

Jeremy has been teaching his friends how to ride their new bikes. That is pretty much all I have to say.

House update 06/25

Sorry there aren't any pictures. We haven't had any time with moving and the funeral. We are officially out of our rental house as of today. Hooray! Moving was hard work, but now we have our cleaning deposit to look forward to.

Our new house has a garage door and locks as of last Saturday! If we want to see the inside, we have to go during business hours, but after the workers are gone. So we will probably only be able to see it on the weekends. : (

The house on 6/17. The stucco has been applied. The inside has been taped, but not textured.
