5 months

My little boy is 5 months. He has changed a lot this past month. At his 4 month appointment the Dr. said we could start feeding him rice cereal and solids. After 3 weeks of rice cereal, and Enzo trying to eat everything off our plates, we decided to start real food. Sweet potatoes were first, and he loved them! We have since moved on to bananas. Next will be avocados.

Enzo is still sleeping well. This will be his last month before we transition him to his own room. I am kind of sad about this, as I love having him close, however I don't want him in our room forever! Enzo can roll from back to front and front to back with ease. He now sleeps on his side with his back arched, it is so adorable. Enzo enjoys his tummy time. He like to grab the blanket and pull himself forward. He doesn't stay in one place for long. Enzo loves to grab everything in sight, especially Mommy's hair.

Enzo is still in 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. His hair is really starting to come in.

Enzo has always had an issue nursing. First he wouldn't latch, then he was impatient and would only nurse at night. Now he flat out refuses to do it. The morning after starting rice cereal he stopped. I continue to pump, but am getting pretty tired of it. My plan is to pump until 6 months, then cut out one pumping session a week. It will make my life so much less stressful. I won't have to plan my day around my pumping schedule and will have more than 5 minutes to eat my lunch at work.

2 weeks ago I finished taking the last of my iron supplements. By 3 months, I was feeling back to normal, not anemic. However, since stopping the iron supplements, I feel light headed at times. I'm hoping that an iron rich diet will remedy this, however if it doesn't, I will have to go to the doctor. On the bright side, I have been able to fit into all me pre-pregnancy pants since the first week of May. My stomach could use some toning, but I'm not stressing about it.

Enzo surprised us this month. Jeremy was sure Enzo would weigh 17lbs, but he hasn't even hit 15lbs yet. His weight is average, his length is a little above average, and his head is finally rounding out, making it above average. However, he still can't fit into his new sunglasses or the 3 new hats he was given. He still has a way to go until he fits into those.

Enzo did really well at his Dr. appointment. He took his oral vaccine a lot easier this time, and only cried for about 30 seconds after his shots. However, he didn't do too well later that evening. Something from the shots must have really upset his stomach, because he screamed for about a 1/2 hour. We tried feeding him, gave him tylenol, rocking, soothing, nothing worked. We gave him a bath and he stopped screaming for a little while, but as soon as we took him out, he started back up. So we took a drive in the car and he conked right out. We drove around for about an hour to make sure he wouldn't wake back up as soon as the car stopped. Enzo slept until I fed and changed him around 11pm. Then he went back to sleep, but it wasn't a peaceful sleep. He was tooting like crazy, and making grunting noises. He woke back up around 3am with a fever of 100.5. I gave Enzo more tylenol and fed him. Around 4am he went back to sleep, grunting the whole time. I finally fell back into a good sleep around 5:30. He woke up screaming again around 8am. His fever was 101.7, and he was so pitiful. So I took off his jammies, changed his diaper, fed him, and gave him more tylenol. His fever has since come down. It stays in the 99-100 degree range with tylenol. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Overall, Enzo is our happy, easygoing little boy. He can roll from his tummy to his back like a champ. Tummy time doesn't last too long because he rolls over as soon as we put him on his tummy. He can roll on his side from his back, but he usually doesn't roll over onto his tummy. He has a couple times, but hasn't made it a habit.

Enzo is sleeping much better. He usually has an 8 hour stretch, eats, then goes back to sleep for 3 hours. We have a nice routine going. But I'm sure it will change once he really starts teething. Jeremy and I are really enjoying our little boy.

Enzo turns 3 months old tomorrow. Wow, how time has flown. My sweet little boy is getting so big! I'm not sure of his height or weight, but he has grown quite a bit since his 2 month appointment. If I had to guess, I would say he had grown about an inch, and probably weighs 13 1/2 pounds. Jeremy says 14 pounds, but I don't think he is quite that big yet. Enzo is now wearing size 2 diapers, and has grown out of his 0-3 sleepers. He can still wear 0-3 month onesies, but anything one piece is out, and his pants are getting short. He will only be wearing 3-6 month clothes in no time.

Anyways, on to Enzo's likes and dislikes.

Enzo is sleeping better, hallelujah! He usually has a 6-7 hour stretch of sleep, feeds, and goes right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. This has made my life so much more enjoyable! I am less sleep deprived, and a little more productive. Although, not this week. I went home sick from work on Monday(something I rarely do.) I had a fever starting Sunday night that didn't go away until Wednesday. Combine that with aches, a sore throat, and headache. What a fun week! I went in for a strep test, but tested negative. I still feel crappy, but at least my fever is gone. I will be going back to work tomorrow. Woo hoo!
