Beach fun

As a last hurrah before the new baby comes, we decided to take a family trip to Fort Bragg on New Year's Day. Enzo loves the beach.  He was so excited to play in the sand that he wouldn't stand still long enough for pictures.
We invited Jeremy's parents to come with us on the trip. We stayed at a hotel right near the ocean.
Enzo loved the elevator(or alligator as he calls it!) He had to ride in it over and over.

We went to Glass Beach on New Year's and played in the sand.  Enzo really wanted to go in the water but it was way too cool.  There isn't much sand at Glass Beach so we only stayed a 1/2 hour or so.
We tried to go to the beach the next day, but since it was 32' we never even got out of the car.  It was a short trip with a long drive, but it was fun.

2!

 Dear Enzo,

I can't believe you are 2 years old! How fast the time has gone. You are my smart, handsome, talkative, friendly, happy, little boy.

Enzo, you love to talk and smile to every person you meet.  You especially love to see "baby brother" in Mommy's tummy.  You will pull up my shirt as quick as can be and kiss the baby.  You also try to share your binky with him.  I can tell you will be a loving big brother and a big helper to Mommy.

In these past few weeks you have started to sing songs.  You might not sing every word, but you love to sing along to dozens of songs.  From "goose" songs(songs we sing at Mother Goose on the Loose) to Jack Johnson, to whatever Daddy happens to be playing on the guitar, you are singing along! You also have started doing the hand motions to nursery rhymes.  It is so exciting to see you learning and showing off what you have learned. You love to dance and will show off for anyone who will watch you.

Mommy and Daddy are your two favorite people.  You love to snuggle with Mommy in the morning after you get out of your crib, and snuggle with Daddy at night after your bath. You are always more than willing to give kisses, with a big "muah!"

"Enzo do it!" has become your favorite phrase.  You love to help Mommy with whatever task I may be working on. Building with legos is your favorite activity.  You could play with blocks for hours! When Mommy calls you from work and ask what you are doing, the answer is always, "building!" When I ask what you are building, it is always a tunnel.  You love tunnels! When riding in the car, you love to ride through tunnels and always ask to go again once we are through.  You even have taken to calling over passes tunnels(because Mommy told you they are mini tunnels.) Your favorite park is the one with the "tunnel slides!"

Your favorite TV shows are Yo Gabba Gabba, Sesame Street, and Sid the Science kid.  Mommy doesn't allow you to watch too much TV, but when Grandpa Bart watches you, you get your fill. You like Yo Gabba Gabba so much, that you were Plex for Halloween and loved your costume! Your birthday party is going to be Yo Gabba Gabba themed.

You are still an awesome sleeper, although you are able to climb in and out of your crib by yourself.  You still wait for Mommy to come get you out of your crib in the morning. I think the only reason you do that is so Mommy will carry your 5 puppies and 3 monkeys to my bed.  You will soon be switching rooms and getting a big boy bed whether Mommy is ready or not.  I'm hoping it doesn't disturb your awesome sleeping habits for too long.

You hated going to the Dr. for your 2 year checkup even though you didn't get any shots.  You cried the whole time! You refused to let us get you undressed, and refused to talk to the Dr. until the exam was over. You are my big boy at 26lbs 5.9oz(46th percentile), 36 1/4" tall(91st percentile), and 20" head(97th percentile!) So you are still tall and skinny with a big head! You are wearing size 5 pampers during the day, and size 6 overnight diapers and wear 18-24month clothing.

Mommy and Daddy love you so much and are excited to have you in our lives!

Love,

Mommy

18 Months

Dear Enzo,

You are 18 months already! It has been 3 months since I last wrote to you, and oh how you have grown! Full of energy and personality, you are sure to say "Hi!" to every person you see. Mommy would like to be invisible when going shopping, but you make sure that doesn't happen.

You have had a word explosion these last few months.  You must know over a hundred words already! Your favorite word is "vacuum!" You could say it all day long. You love to see the vacuum, use the vacuum, visit the vacuums at Target, etc.  Whenever we visit a friend or relative, you find the closet that their vacuum is hiding in.

Meltdowns have begun to happen.  Boo! Usually they happen when you are over tired or Mommy isn't listening to what you want.  They don't happen because you can't communicate you wants/needs.  You make perfectly sure to tell Mommy what you want, or show it to me.

You have all of your teeth now except your 2 year molars.  Mommy is looking forward to a teething break! You still are a wonderful sleeper and Mommy thanks you for that! 10-11 hours at night and a solid 3 hour nap everyday.

You are still in size 4 diapers and 18 month clothes. Head circumference: 19.49", height: 2' 9.75", and weight: 24lb 13.8oz. Using the WHO growth charts, you are 91%, 83%, and 54%. Tall and lean with a big head.

You survived your 18 month Dr. appointment.  You hated almost every minute of it.  Mommy is amazed that you can remember what happens when you go to the Dr. since you haven't been there in 6 months.  You cried during the shots of course, but quickly quieted down afterwards.  Trying to get your height was harder than the shots.  You did not want to lay down on the exam table!

Papa Bart has been watching you while Mommy works since Grandma Neece got a job.  You really enjoy your time with Papa, but miss Grandma a lot!  Instead of seeing Grandma at least twice a week, now it about twice a month.  Mommy misses time with Grandma too! We are adjusting, but are sad.

Mommy loves you and is so glad that she is able to be your Mama! You are a hilarious child who loves books, animals and music! Mommy can't imagine life without you.

Love,

Mommy
